About Us

SAM was conceptualised by Scotland’s senior Imams as a united platform to promote the values, and raise awareness of the needs, of Scottish Muslims in all aspects of life- including education, health, poverty, hate crime, young people and families.

SAM endeavours to place the needs of Muslim communities firmly on the agenda of all service providers within Scotland.

There is an appreciation that the issues of common concern within the community have to be tackled in a partnership community approach.

SAM was officially constituted in March 2022, following an inaugural meeting of 11 founding members.

Our Members

SAM is a membership based organisation, led by a board of thirteen Imams, of which eleven represent the founding members plus two co-opted members, taken from the membership. Alongside the board is a working group of Alimas (female scholars), a secretariat and a Public Affairs & Communications team
